Paneer Tikka Masala Recipe – A Rich & Spicy Indian Delight

Paneer Tikka Masala is one of the most beloved North Indian dishes, especially among vegetarians. Known for its smoky, spicy paneer tikka cubes swimming in a rich, creamy, and tangy tomato-based gravy – this dish has earned its place in restaurants and homes alike. If you’re looking to recreate that restaurant-style taste at home, this detailed recipe will guide you every step of the way.

What is Paneer Tikka Masala?

Paneer Tikka Masala is a two-part recipe: first, Paneer Tikka – cubes of paneer (Indian cottage cheese) marinated in spiced yogurt and grilled to perfection. Second, a luscious masala gravy, made with tomatoes, onions, cashews, and aromatic Indian spices.

The result? A smoky, spicy, creamy curry that pairs beautifully with naan, roti, or jeera rice. Whether for a festive dinner or a cozy family meal, Paneer Tikka Masala never disappoints.

  2. Add the paneer cubes and coat them well with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for best flavor).
  3. Heat 1 tbsp oil on a non-stick pan or grill pan. Place marinated paneer pieces and cook on medium heat until golden brown and slightly charred on both sides.Alternative: Bake at 200°C (390°F) for 15 minutes or grill using skewers in an oven/toaster grill

  7. Add red chili powder, turmeric, coriander-cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
